Obverse description Veiled and wreathed head of Phthia facing left, adorned with a wreath of acanthus leaves in fine Hellenistic style. A corn ear appears behind the head in the left field, serving as a secondary emblem. The portrait is rendered with careful attention to the drapery of the veil and the delicate foliage of the wreath. The inscription ΦΘΙΑΣ identifies the subject as Phthia, the mother of Pyrrhus, whose posthumous deification is here commemorated.
