Obverse description Bare head of Zeus Hellanios facing right, rendered in fine Sicilian style with flowing curly hair and a prominent laureate wreath of olive leaves. The portrait fills the flan with considerable authority, the facial features depicted with idealized Hellenistic naturalism. The smooth field surrounding the head is devoid of legend or inscription. The flan is slightly irregular at the edges, consistent with hand-struck bronze coinage of the period.
