| 裏面の説明 | Athena standing facing left, clad in chiton and aegis adorned with serpents, her right arm raised holding an upright spear. A large round shield rests propped against her left leg. The ethnic legend KAMAPINA is inscribed in the field around the figure in Greek characters, reading partially to the left and right of the goddess, consistent with the civic identity of this Sicilian mint. |

Kamarina was destroyed by Syracuse in 484 BC and its population deported. The city was refounded around 461 BC following Syracuse's political upheaval after the death of Hieron I, and this litra belongs to that resettlement phase — struck by a community literally rebuilding itself from scratch. The Westermark and Jenkins corpus remains the definitive study of Kamarinaean coinage, and HGC 2, 536 places this issue firmly within the early post-refoundation sequence before the city achieved its fuller civic confidence in the following decades.
