Obverse description Head of a youthful male deity facing three-quarters to the right, rendered in fine Sicilian style with flowing, carefully detailed wavy hair bound by a wreath or fillet. The face displays finely modeled features characteristic of late fifth- to early fourth-century BCE Sicilian coinage. The Greek ethnic legend ΠIAKINOΣ is distributed around the periphery of the flan. The flan is irregular and slightly rough at the edges, consistent with the small hammered silver coinage of interior Sicilian communities.
