Obverse description Selinon leaf (wild parsley or celery plant) depicted in high relief at center, with three prominent fronds spreading upward and outward from a central stem, rendered in a naturalistic Archaic style characteristic of early Sicilian coinage. The design fills the compact round flan, with fine detail evident in the leaf veining. The coin's namesake plant, the selinon, served as the civic emblem of Selinos and appears prominently on all denominations of this mint.
