Litra

Entella was a Siculan — not Greek — city in the interior of western Sicily, and its decision to strike coinage in the mid-fifth century places this litra among the earliest issues from a non-Greek Sicilian community adopting Greek monetary conventions. The city later became notorious as the site of a Campanian mercenary takeover around 404 BC, after which its coinage character changed substantially. What survives from this earlier phase is rare enough that the same small group of specimens circulates repeatedly through the major reference corpora — the overlap between de Luynes, Jameson, BMC, and ANS citations here almost certainly reflects fewer than a dozen known examples.
