The facial features are finely detailed, with a sensitively modeled profile characteristic of early Classical Sicilian coinage. The neck is truncated cleanly at the lower edge of the field. |

Four Greek letters — Λ, Ε, Ο, Ν — are disposed in the four quadrants of the field around the grain, serving as an abbreviated ethnic for ΛΕΟΝΤΙΝΩΝ (Leontinoi). The reverse field is slightly concave, typical of hammered issues of this period. |
