| Obverse description | Facing right, the helmeted head of Athena is rendered in fine archaic Sicilian style, her Corinthian helmet pushed back to reveal wavy locks of hair falling along the neck. The modelling of the facial features is confident and carefully executed. Behind the neck guard, a retrograde gamma (Γ) appears above a small owl, both serving as secondary control marks in the field. |

| Reverse description | A powerfully modelled lion, depicted in right profile in a crouching, predatory posture, savages the severed head of a stag held beneath its forepaws; the musculature and mane of the lion are rendered with vigorous detail characteristic of Sicilian bronze coinage of this period. A ground line separates the main field from the exergue, beneath which a monogram control mark is prominently placed in the lower field. |
