| Aanvullende informatie |
Eryx occupied a strategically critical position on its mountaintop in northwestern Sicily, and by 409 BC the city had fallen under Carthaginian control following the destruction of Selinus and Himera. This litra was struck under that Carthaginian-backed administration, making it a product of one of the most violent decades in Sicilian history — a period when Carthage systematically dismantled the island's Greek colonial network city by city.
The series is small and the surviving population tight across the major collections, with specimens distributed among fewer than a dozen catalogued references.
