The king wears a crown and holds a long scepter in his right hand and a short scepter in his left; his feet rest upon a lion couchant at lower left. The throne and architectural baldachin are rendered in a Gothic style characteristic of mid-14th-century French royal coinage. The surrounding legend reads in Latin separated by decorative stops. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A floriated cross pattée set within a quatrefoil frame, its limbs terminating in fleurs-de-lis, with the angles between the arms of the cross each filled by a trefoil without stalk. The quatrefoil itself is ornamented with Gothic leaf motifs at its cusps. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the Christus vincit legend inscribed along the outer border in Latin, punctuated by decorative stops. The design follows the established tradition of French royal gold coinage of the Valois period. |
