Reverse description A four-towered city gate rendered schematically in the field, with a bust or head depicted below the central gateway arch, the whole design enclosed within a roughly circular beaded border. The architectural motif, representing the fortified gate of Eger (Cheb), is characteristic of the local coinage of the Staufen period and is struck in low relief with the irregular outline typical of hammered pfennigs.
