Obverse description Central field features a large crowned Gothic letter L set upon a cross-shaped base, all enclosed within a beaded inner ring. The crown surmounting the initial is rendered in profile with characteristic late-medieval stylization. A circular Latin legend runs along the coin's periphery between the beaded ring and the outer edge of the flan. The overall composition is characteristic of the billon liards struck under Louis XII for the Provence mint.
