Obverse description Central crowned royal monogram composed of two interlaced letter A's (one reversed) and a letter I, surmounted by a crown. A six-pointed star appears in the lower field beneath the monogram. The circumferential legend runs in Latin along the coin's border, interrupted by pellet stops. The overall design is characteristic of the hammered billon coinage of the Lordship of Béarn under the joint reign of Anthony of Bourbon and Joan of Albret.
