The shield is quartered with the arms of Cologne archbishopric and Bavaria, set within a plain field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the shield, reading PR.L.ET.S.CO.P.R.D.BAV, abbreviating Princeps Leodiensis et Serenissimus Comes Palatinus Rheni Dux Bavariae (Prince of Liège and Serene Count Palatine of the Rhine, Duke of Bavaria). The overall composition is typical of the hammered billon and copper coinage of the Liège mint in the first half of the 17th century. |
