| Obverse description | Crowned and draped bust of Ferdinand of Bavaria, Prince-Bishop of Liège, facing right, wearing a ruff collar and episcopal vestments. The effigy is rendered in a somewhat crude hammered style characteristic of early 17th-century Liège coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading FERDINANDVS . D . G . ARCH . COL, identifying the issuer as Ferdinand, by the Grace of God, Archbishop of Cologne. The field shows the irregular flan typical of hammered copper issues of this period. |
