Obverse description Bust of Ernest of Bavaria facing right, depicted with flowing hair and beard, wearing a ruffled collar and clerical or princely attire, rendered in a crude hammered style typical of early seventeenth-century Low Countries copper coinage. The portrait occupies the central field with a circular legend surrounding it. The overall strike is irregular, consistent with hand-hammered production at the Liege mint.
