| Reverse description | Central field features a plain Latin cross of bold, slightly tapering form set within a roped or corded inner circle, the arms nearly reaching the inner border. The outer field carries the abbreviated royal legend in large uncial letters disposed around the circumference, invoking the authority of the Holy Roman Emperor Conrad as nominal overlord. The lettering is strongly modelled in high relief against the flat, slightly uneven hammered ground, typical of Genoese grossi of this period. A small cross pattée introduces the legend at the upper left. The overall composition reflects the imperial pretension of the Genoese Republic while asserting civic monetary authority. |
