Surrounding the inner circle, the outer legend in uncial Latin reads ASTENSIS, flanked by rosette or fleur ornaments, with a small cross patty at the top serving as the legend stop. The overall design is typical of the Genoese grosso tradition adopted by the northern Italian communes. |
