| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the elaborate calligraphic tughra of Sultan Mahmud II, rendered in high relief with characteristic intertwined loops, vertical strokes (tuğ), and sweeping diagonal baseline. A small floral or rosette ornament appears to the upper right of the tughra. Below the tughra, the mint name 'Kostantiniyye' (Constantinople) is inscribed in large thuluth script, with the AH regnal year 1223 rendered in Eastern Arabic numerals along the lower arc. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner border and a plain outer rim. |
