Obverse description Central field bears the arms of Bern, depicting a walking bear in profile facing left, set within a beaded inner circle. Above the bear, a small eagle is visible at the top of the shield. The circumferential legend reads MONE BERNENSIS with a date, separated by decorative stops, all enclosed between the beaded border and the coin's outer rim. The design is characteristic of the hammered coinage style of early seventeenth-century Swiss municipal issues.
