Reverse description A bold cross pattée radiates from the center of the field, dividing the coin into four quadrants, each filled with decorative cross-hatched or star-like ornamental elements. The surrounding circular legend SANCTVS MICHAEL invokes Saint Michael, the patron saint, split and distributed around the circumference. The overall composition is typical of Swiss cantonal billon coinage of the late sixteenth century, with the legend occupying the full periphery of the flan.
