Obverse description Crowned equestrian figure of the tsar facing right, depicted in profile on horseback and brandishing a lance or spear in the raised right hand; the rider wears a crown and long robes, seated on a horse shown in full stride. The design is rendered in the characteristic schematic style of early Russian wire money, with bold, deeply struck relief on an irregular planchet. No surrounding legend appears on this face, the entire field being occupied by the horseman device traditional to Muscovite kopecks.
