| Reverse description | The reverse bears a multi-line Cyrillic legend filling the entire field of the irregularly shaped flan, arranged in four horizontal lines of varying width in the characteristic style of early 17th-century Russian wire money. The inscription reads the full royal titulature of Tsar Vasiliy IV Ivanovich, proclaiming him Tsar and Great Prince of all Russia, as issued by the Novgorod Mint. The lettering is in an archaic Cyrillic hand, with individual characters exhibiting the compressed, slightly elongated forms typical of the period. The flan edges are ragged and uneven, a natural consequence of the hammered wire-planchet production method. No border or decorative framing elements are present. |
