Obverse description A mounted horseman, representing the Tsar, depicted in right-facing profile atop a galloping horse, holding a spear in the traditional chivalric pose. The figure is rendered in the archaic wire money (chekha) style characteristic of early Petrine coinage. Beneath the hooves of the horse appear Cyrillic letters forming part of the date inscription. The design is struck on an irregularly shaped silver planchet, as was customary for this series of wire kopecks.
