Obverse description Obverse of this wire money (cheshuyка) is heavily worn and largely featureless, consistent with the irregular flan produced by the hammered wire technique. The flat, lenticular silver flan shows no clearly distinguishable devices or legends on this side, a characteristic common to many surviving examples of late 17th-century Russian wire kopecks where one face retains little detail due to uneven striking pressure.
