Obverse description A mounted horseman, representing the Tsar, depicted in profile galloping to the right and wielding a spear, rendered in the traditional Russian wire money style with bold, schematic relief. The figure sits astride a horse shown in full gallop, with the lance pointed forward. Cyrillic letters appear beneath the horse's hooves, surmounted by a titlo abbreviation mark, denoting the regnal year in Church Slavonic numeral notation. The flan is irregular in outline, characteristic of the wire-cut (chekanka) production technique. The overall design follows the long-established Moscow kopeck tradition dating to the sixteenth century.
