Obverse description Equestrian figure of the Tsar depicted as a mounted warrior, galloping to the right, with a lance or spear levelled forward in the classic pose of a knight or prince. The rider is rendered in the traditional medieval Russian stylisation characteristic of wire kopecks (cheshuykas), with the horse in full gallop. Cyrillic date numerals appear in the field, rendered in the Slavonic alphanumeric system as ҂АΨАI, denoting the year 1711 in the civil calendar. The flan is irregular in shape, typical of wire-cut silver planchets hammered between dies, resulting in partially visible design elements depending on planchet placement.
