Obverse description Obverse of this wire money (cheshуika) depicts a horseman in profile facing right, shown as an armed rider on horseback — the traditional equestrian motif inherited from earlier Muscovite coinage. The figure, representing the Tsar as warrior sovereign, is rendered in a highly schematic, low-relief style characteristic of hammered wire kopecks. Due to the small flan size and irregular striking, only a portion of the design is typically visible, with details compressed across the uneven silver surface. The overall composition is crude yet conventionally recognizable within the established iconographic tradition of Russian wire money.
