Obverse description Typical wire money (chekha) design depicting an armored equestrian figure — representing the Tsar — mounted on a galloping horse facing right, holding a lance (spear) couched downward in the manner of Saint George. The date in Cyrillic numeral notation appears beneath the horse's hooves in the lower field. The irregular flan, characteristic of the drawn-wire planchet technique, imparts an oval, unstruck periphery.
