| Reverse description | A mounted horseman, representing the Tsar, depicted in right-facing profile astride a galloping horse, wielding a spear or lance directed downward in the tradition of St. George imagery, as was conventional on Russian kopecks of this period. Beneath the horse's hooves appears the date inscription in Church Slavonic numerals. The design is struck in low relief on the irregular flan, with the image characteristically off-center and partially incomplete due to the small size of the wire-cut planchet. |
