| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicts an armored equestrian figure — the Tsar — riding to the right on horseback, with a spear leveled downward toward a serpent or fallen foe beneath the horse's hooves, in the traditional St. George-type composition long associated with Russian wire money. The rider wears a crown and stylized armor rendered in the bold, schematic manner characteristic of late Muscovite hammered coinage. The flan is irregular and elongated, typical of the chekha (wire money) production method, with the design occupying the full available surface. No border or legend appears on this face. The overall artistic style reflects the archaic die-engraving tradition inherited from pre-Petrine Moscow. |
