Beschrijving voorzijde Equestrian figure of the Tsar facing right, depicted as a mounted warrior on horseback, brandishing a spear or lance in the raised right hand. The horse is shown in a galloping or striding pose with legs extended. The design is rendered in the characteristic crude, high-relief style of Russian wire money, struck on an irregular planchet. The field is uneven and slightly concave as typical of hammered kopecks of this period.

Aanvullende informatie

Mikhail Romanov's early kopecks are products of a dynasty still consolidating power after the Time of Troubles — a decade of civil war, famine, and foreign occupation that left Russian minting infrastructure badly disrupted. The Novgorod mint resumed operations under Romanov authority as part of a deliberate effort to reassert control over coin production that had fragmented dangerously during the interregnum. РIН is the Cyrillic date rendering of 1617, fixing the earliest anchor of this issue's production range to the year the Treaty of Stolbovo ended the Swedish occupation of Novgorod itself.
