Obverse description A mounted warrior, representing the Tsar, depicted in profile galloping to the right and wielding a raised spear, rendered in the characteristic schematic style of early Russian wire money. The figure occupies the majority of the irregular flan, with the mint mark letters ПС (Pskov) inscribed beneath the horse's hooves in Cyrillic characters. The design is struck from hand-engraved dies on a crudely shaped silver wire planchet, resulting in variable and often partial impressions.
