正面描述 Central field depicts an armored rider — representing the Tsar — mounted on a galloping horse facing right, holding a spear (lance) directed downward in the manner characteristic of Russian wire money of the period. Beneath the hooves of the horse appear the mint letters оМ (Moscow Mint) and оБ (mintmaster initial), struck in Cyrillic script. The design is rendered in the flat, schematic style typical of 17th-century Russian chekanka (wire kopecks), with the figure occupying nearly the full irregular flan.

附加信息

Mikhail I, the first Romanov tsar, inherited a treasury gutted by the Time of Troubles — fifteen years of civil war, foreign occupation, and dynastic collapse that left the Russian monetary system in fragments. These wire-cut kopecks, struck by hammer between hand-cut dies at the Moscow mint, were produced under a regime still consolidating legitimacy as much as territory. The mint marks оМ and оБ denote Moscow and an individual die-cutter's mark respectively, part of a rudimentary accountability system that is still not fully decoded by scholars.
