| Obverse description | Equestrian effigy of the Tsar depicted as a mounted warrior, galloping to the right, lance couched forward in the characteristic 'kopeck' horseman motif derived from the image of St. George. The rider is shown in profile atop a spirited horse, with the mint mark letters 'o M' (denoting the Moscow Mint) inscribed beneath the horse's hooves in Cyrillic characters. The flan is of irregular, lenticular shape typical of wire-money (chekha) production, and the design is partially struck due to the nature of the hammered technique. |
