| Obverse description | A mounted warrior depicted in right-facing profile, shown galloping on horseback and brandishing a long spear (kopye), from which the denomination derives its name. The rider is rendered in the characteristic schematic style of Russian wire money, with the horse in full stride. Abbreviated Cyrillic mint letters appear beneath the hooves of the horse, denoting the Velikiy Novgorod mint. The design occupies the entirety of the irregular flan, typical of chekanka wire coinage of the period. |
