| Reverse description | The reverse bears a multi-line Cyrillic inscription filling the entire field of the irregular flan, arranged in three lines, recording the titulature of the issuing ruler. The legend reads in abbreviated form referencing the Tsar and Grand Prince Ivan of all Rus', as was standard on Muscovite kopecks of this period. The lettering is boldly struck in the archaic Cyrillic script characteristic of sixteenth-century Russian wire money, with individual characters showing the angular, monumental style typical of Pskov Mint production. The flan edges are ragged and irregular, consistent with the wire-cutting method of blank preparation. |
