| Obverse description | Armored equestrian figure of the tsar facing right, depicted in profile astride a galloping horse, with a spear or lance raised in the right hand in a striking posture — the classic kopeck type known as the 'horseman' (всадник). The rider wears a helmet and military dress rendered in the schematic style characteristic of hammered wire coinage of the period. The mint mark 'А' (identifying the Pskov Mint) appears in the lower field beneath the horse. The flan is irregular in outline, typical of the wire-money (чешуйка) production technique. |
