| Reverse description | The reverse bears a multi-line Cyrillic legend arranged in four horizontal registers across the flat, irregular flan, reading the titular inscription of the ruler. The bold, slightly uneven letterforms are characteristic of the mid-16th century Pskov die-cutting tradition. The inscription, which translates as 'Grand Prince Ivan, Sovereign of All Russia,' fills the central field without a border, consistent with wire-money kopeck types of the reign of Ivan IV. The surface shows the typical flatness and flan distortion associated with hammered wire coinage. |
