| Obverse description | Obverse depicts a mounted equestrian figure of the Tsar in profile facing right, shown on horseback and holding a lance or spear in the raised right hand, rendered in the traditional Russian wire money style with bold but crude relief characteristic of hammered coinage. The rider wears a crown or helmet, and the horse is shown in a striding pose. The design occupies the full irregular flan, typical of fish-scale (cheshуika) kopecks, with no formal border or exergue. The overall composition follows the long-established Muscovite iconographic tradition of the armed sovereign on horseback. |
