Obverse description Mounted horseman facing right, depicted as a crowned rider in full armor astride a galloping horse, leveling a long spear downward in the classic kopeck tradition. The figure is rendered in the stylized, flat relief characteristic of late 16th-century Russian wire money. Cyrillic mint letters appear in the lower field beneath the horse, identifying the Velikiy Novgorod mint. The planchet is irregular in outline, as is typical of the chekanka (wire-cut) hammered coinage of Muscovite Russia.
