| Beschrijving voorzijde | A crowned equestrian figure of the tsar, depicted in right profile, charges on a galloping horse while brandishing a spear — the classic 'копейщик' (spearman) design that gives the kopeck its name. The horseman is rendered in the bold, stylized tradition of late-sixteenth-century Russian wire money. Beneath the horse's hooves appear the mint letters 'Б О М', denoting the Moscow mint under Boris Godunov's reign. The irregular flan, characteristic of chekha (wire-cut) coinage, results in partial legends and design elements on most specimens. |
