Obverse description Crudely struck horseman in right profile, depicted as an armed rider holding a spear or lance, typical of the chekanka wire money tradition of Muscovite coinage. The figure, representing the Tsar as mounted warrior, is rendered in low relief on an irregularly shaped flan cut from a silver wire blank. The design is characteristic of Russian wire kopecks of the mid-to-late 17th century, with the image partially obscured by the uneven surface of the hammered planchet. The field is flat and unadorned, with no border or rim treatment.
