| Descrizione del dritto | Within a plain square flan with rounded corners, the two-line legend KREIS / KONITZ occupies the central field in bold raised capital letters, all enclosed within a raised pearl border forming a circle. A small six-petalled rosette ornament appears above the legend at twelve o'clock and a smaller rosette below at six o'clock, serving as decorative separators. The flat, unadorned field between the pearl circle and the coin's squared edges is plain. The overall design is austere and functional, characteristic of German World War I notgeld emergency coinage. |

Konitz — now Chojnice, in northern Poland — was a Westprussia district seat that issued emergency iron coinage in 1916 as the Imperial German war economy systematically stripped copper and nickel from civilian circulation. The Funck reference distinguishes at least two die varieties under this type, suggesting the local authority placed more than one production order, which was not unusual for district-level notgeld as municipal needs outpaced single-run supplies.
