Obverse description Central pellet enclosed within a plain inner circle, surrounded by a Kufic Arabic religious inscription arranged in a circular band, the whole framed by an outer beaded border. The legend reads in the name of the Fatimid Imam al-Mu'izz. The script is characteristic of early Fatimid coinage, with angular Kufic lettering typical of mid-tenth century Sicilian mint production. The overall design is spare and epigraphic, with no figural elements, consistent with Islamic numismatic convention.
