| Beschrijving voorzijde | Two male deities depicted standing in full figure facing the viewer, each holding a bow in hand, identified as Rama and Lakshmana. The figures are rendered in a schematic, folk art style characteristic of south Indian copper kasu coinage. The die work is crude but iconographically deliberate, with the forms occupying the full field of the flan. No legend or inscription is present. |

Sivaganga was established as a poligar chieftaincy only in 1730, when Sasivarna Thevar received formal recognition after supporting the Nawab of Arcot against rival claims. This kasu belongs to the earliest phase of that chieftaincy — minted within what was effectively a newly legitimized local power still consolidating its administrative apparatus under Nawab oversight.
