Jital - Samanta Deva - Shahi of Ohind - 850-1000 AD Ohind Mint

The Shahi kingdom centered at Ohind (modern Hund, on the Indus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) controlled one of the most strategically critical river crossings in the subcontinent — the same ford later used by Mahmud of Ghazni during his early eleventh-century campaigns, which ultimately destroyed the dynasty. Samanta Deva ruled as a subordinate or successor figure within the late Hindu Shahi line, and jitals from his name represent some of the last indigenous silver coinage struck in the region before Ghaznavid absorption rendered local minting obsolete.
