Obverse description Crude hammered field bearing the Nagari legend 'Sri Mahmad Sami' (श्री महमद सामि), a Nagari rendering of the ruler's name Muizz al-din Muhammad bin Sam. The design features a stylized seated or standing figure in the upper portion of the flan, rendered in a debased Indo-Islamic style characteristic of Ghurid jitals struck for circulation in northern India. The irregular flan shows typical characteristics of hand-hammered coinage with uneven borders and surface granularity consistent with a leaded copper alloy.
