| Beschrijving voorzijde | A mounted rider depicted in profile facing left, holding a falcon perched upon the right hand, executed in the schematic Indo-Muslim style characteristic of Ghurid billon jitals. The equestrian figure occupies the central field, with the horse rendered in a stylised manner typical of hammered coinage of the period. The design is enclosed within a beaded border forming an inner circle, with the irregular flan edge visible beyond. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Ghiyath al-Din Mahmud ruled the Ghurid sultanate in its final fragile years, following the assassination of his uncle Muhammad of Ghor in 1206 — the same year the Delhi Sultanate was effectively founded by Qutb al-Din Aibak, a former Ghurid slave-general. The dynasty Mahmud nominally headed was already fracturing under pressure from the Khwarazmian empire to the west and increasingly autonomous former subordinates to the east. By 1215, the Ghurids ceased to exist as a political entity.
Jitals of this type circulated across the Afghan-Indian frontier zone, a region where billon small change outlasted the dynasties that struck it by generations.
