Obverse description A horseman depicted in left-facing profile occupies the central field, seated astride a galloping horse with forelegs raised. The rider bears a banner or flag over his shoulder, rendered in the schematic, stylized manner characteristic of Ghaznavid-derived coinage of the eastern Islamic world. The design is boldly struck in high relief on an irregular, roughly circular flan typical of hammered billon jitals of this period. No marginal legend is present; the entire field is dominated by the equestrian device.
